Valerie Ortiz-Gómez holds a Ph.D. in Innovation in Microbiology and Biochemistry in Medical Devices and has made significant contributions to the field of antimicrobial coatings throughout her professional career. Her involvement with the Puerto Rico Society of Microbiologists dates back to her undergraduate studies, during which she actively participated in student chapters, symposia, and various society activities. She is part of the Microbiology Faculty at the new School of Dental Medicine of Ana G. Méndez University, where she teaches courses in clinical microbiology for undergraduate an dental students.
