He then pursued a M.Sc. degree in Plant Biotechnology from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico (IAUPR)-Barranquitas Campus. Recently, he obtained his Ph.D. in International Biotechnology from the IAUPR-BR. Christopher’s research focuses on studying plant-microbe-insect interactions. He is currently a research technician at the IAUPR-BR and also serves as part-time faculty, where he involves undergraduate and graduate students in the field of plant microbiology and biotechnology. Additionally, he has published several peer-reviewed articles in international scientific journals. Science is an opportunity for Dr. Sambolín Pérez to be curious and creative while trying to understand the world around him. He believes that science, along with his hobby of bonsai art, has become a lifestyle that he will continue to pursue for the rest of his life. Through bonsai, he teaches botany, creating more curiosity and engagement among students. Dr. Sambolín Pérez’ perspective is that taking care of nature involves spreading passion and knowledge for loving nature through science and bonsai art. Serving as a member of the Puerto Rico Society of Microbiologist’s board of directors, as a councilor, enables him to continue his support for the society, thereby benefiting students and the broader membership.
