As a student of Non-Invasive Cardiovascular Technology (2019-2021) and currently Biology (2021-present) at the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico (PUCPR)-Ponce Campus, Ángel G. Vargas-Pratts has received recognition for academic excellence at the College of Science Honors Assembly for the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 academic years. He reinstated the PUCPR Microbiology Student Association in March 2023, served as activities coordinator, vice-president, and now as an external mentor. His research includes studying SOD-1 mutation and mitophagy in ALS and bioremediation of glyphosate-contaminated soils.
